Does anyone smoke in your house?
If you smoke outside – how far away from the house do you go?
The Facts:
Secondhand smoke poses a serious risk of people’s health and is particularly dangerous for children
Cigarette smoke lingers in the home for up to five hours after you stub out a cigarette
Children exposed to secondhand smoke are at risk of developing coughs, colds, ear infection, chest infection and poor lung function
Even pets can be harmed by secondhand smoke, putting them at risk of breathing problems or cancer
Any Age, Any Stage
We’re running a new digital campaign in 2021 showing you can quit at any age and any stage. It is never too late or too early to quit smoking. Quitting smoking will always been the best decision you’ll ever make to protect your health and boost your finances.
What about opening the window?
People often think that they can remove the risk from second-hand smoke exposure by opening windows or doors, not smoking in front of the kids, smoking in one room, smoking under an extractor fan or using air purifiers, fresheners or candles. None of these work!
The only way to completely reduce exposure to second-hand smoke is by smoking outside the home, at least 6 steps away.
