The Smokefree Action Coalition (SFAC) is a powerful collective of organisations across the UK, united in their mission to promote public health and reduce the devastating harms caused by tobacco. As a proud member of SFAC, ASH Wales works collaboratively with partners to advocate for bold tobacco control measures and ensure the voices of communities in Wales are heard at a national level.
SFAC was initially established to campaign for smokefree workplaces and has since evolved to address broader tobacco-related issues. The coalition’s efforts have contributed to significant milestones, including the introduction of smokefree legislation and the publication of Westminster’s Tobacco Control Plans in 2011 and 2018. Today, SFAC continues to push for effective, fully-funded tobacco control strategies that remain central to government health policies.
The coalition’s overarching aim is to reduce the harm caused by tobacco by driving forward impactful policies and ensuring governments remain committed to protecting public health. Through its work, SFAC has successfully influenced legislation and promoted initiatives that lower smoking rates, combat health inequalities, and support communities in leading healthier lives.
As a dedicated member of SFAC, ASH Wales brings a unique perspective to the coalition, representing the specific needs and challenges of Wales. We contribute to national campaigns, share best practices, and collaborate on innovative solutions to reduce tobacco use. Our involvement ensures that the priorities of Wales’ communities are reflected in UK-wide tobacco control efforts.
