About This Resource

Our Pollution Detectives resource is a free school resource packed with energy, teamwork and interactive fun – all designed to help young people uncover the truth about cigarette butts, vapes and their impact on the environment.

Pupils take on the role of detectives, working in teams to complete five hands-on challenges and collect three vital clues. Along the way, they’ll:

• Investigate the hidden chemicals in cigarettes
• Discover the truth about filters
• Bust myths from the tobacco industry
• Take part in a giant litter decomposition timeline
• Learn how discarded butts and vapes harm wildlife, beaches and seas

With quizzes, team points, real-life facts and a final Pollution Pledge, this session gets young people thinking, questioning and stepping up to protect the planet all while having a brilliant time.
