Volunteering: “I’ve really learnt a lot.”
Hello I’m Chelsea Vater and I volunteer with Ash Wales‘s youth project, The Filter.
I came to Ash Wales through my college. They came out to us on a session; I really enjoyed the stuff they did with us so I asked if I could do my placement with them.
I’m here sometimes in the office and the other times out on sessions at youth clubs or colleges. The reason I like Ash Wales so much is because they are so friendly and welcoming, if I ever have a problem I can tell them and they would help me out.
When I’m out on a session with Louisa I normally do the CO monitor (it sees how much smoke is in your lungs) and the CO scores. I’ve really learnt a lot since I’ve been at Ash Wales. I’ve learnt that smoking continues every year, but the government wants it to go down instead of up.
I would recommend Ash Wales to anyone; they are amazing charity-based people, who help people give up smoking.
