The Wales Tobacco or Health Network (WTHN) is a dynamic and inclusive platform that brings together individuals and organisations with a shared commitment to tackling tobacco harm and addressing health inequalities in Wales. This annual gathering fosters collaboration, sparks innovative ideas, and drives forward informed strategies to create a healthier, smokefree Wales.
The WTHN is an engaging conference that unites a diverse range of stakeholders. From academics and healthcare professionals to frontline workers and community advocates. The event is a space for exploring challenges, sharing evidence-based insights, and developing practical solutions to national and local tobacco control actions.
The WTHN network is open to individuals and is not organisationally representative. Members come from many organisations and sectors including academia, education, government, healthcare, industry, local government, the media, the NHS and public health, the private and voluntary sectors.
Wednesday, June 25 · 9:30am – 3:30pm
At this year’s Wales Tobacco and Health Network, we’ll come together in-person to explore what addiction and dependence mean across different sectors, communities and lived experiences in Wales.
Whether you’re working in smoking cessation, alcohol or drug support, gambling awareness, youth services or mental health, we know many of those we support share overlapping stories, challenges and needs , yet our responses are often shaped within individual sectors, each doing vital work, but often working independently.
We’ll be hearing from those with lived experience, as well as people working closely across services and communities in Wales and elsewhere in the UK.
Together, we’ll explore how we can build more joined-up understanding for addiction and dependence, how our services can learn from each other and how we can create a stronger, more connected, compassionate approach to prevention, support, and recovery.
Please sign-up to join us for this in-person event in Cardiff, where we will share best practice and you’ll come away with new ideas, inspiration and contacts.
Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided and there will be ample time built-in to the event for breaks and networking.
Attending the WTHN offers unique opportunities to network, learn, and collaborate with leading experts in public health and tobacco control. By participating, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping innovative strategies and contributing to the national dialogue on reducing tobacco-related harm.
The network is open to individuals from a broad spectrum of sectors, including academia, healthcare, education, public health, and the voluntary sector.
