Research behind the approaches

SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Nicotine e-cigarettes

In adult cessation trials, nicotine e-cigarettes helped more people quit than nicotine replacement therapy.
This is treatment evidence, rather than a test of a particular community delivery model. Evidence on longer-term harms is less complete.

SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Financial incentives

Financial incentives improve quitting at six months or longer. Pregnancy trials provide additional evidence in that population.
Results depend on the population and programme studied; the case studies describe those differences.

Sources and methods

Cases explain delivery, findings and limitations, drawing on published evaluations and programme reports. ASH Wales projects may also use our own project records. The case makes clear what was measured and what remains unknown.
