Pouchless nicotine pods have a UK-facing retail listing: these small oral portions have no outer pouch and are not designed to melt. We’ve also added international examples of ultra-thin and semi-gel nicotine pouches, and updated our page on gels, creams, sprays and nasal inhalers. UK or Welsh availability has not been established for those international examples. These updates explain what the products are, what is verified and what remains uncertain. They do not establish how widely any product is used in Wales.

How something becomes an ASH Wales alert
We do not publish an alert just because a product appears in a social post, one school hears a rumour or a brand makes a dramatic claim. We look for at least one credible signal:
Market
A product or format is verified on the UK market or named in official UK guidance.
Welsh safety
Welsh testing, surveillance or public-health intelligence identifies a relevant substance, substitution or pattern.
Research
Peer-reviewed or public-agency research identifies a product, chemical or health issue worth tracking.
Policy / legal
Law, regulation, official guidance or a formal consultation changes, or may change, how a product is sold, promoted or treated.
Rumour alone is not enough. If we cannot verify a claim, it stays off the public alert list until stronger evidence appears.
What earns a place in Product Watch
A useful signal helps people recognise an unfamiliar product or understand a meaningful change. We prioritise new nicotine formats, vape designs, ingredients and relevant marketing developments, not every new brand, flavour or routine recall.
We look worldwide, using original product information, credible reporting, research and official evidence. A retailer listing can show that a product is advertised; it does not prove popularity, safety or use among young people. Early international and adjacent signals are labelled separately from confirmed market information.
Safety findings must directly concern relevant nicotine or vape products. Law and policy updates have their own section. Rumours and unrelated consumer recalls are not product discoveries. Every record links to its sources and explains what is known, what is uncertain and where the evidence applies.
