Semi-gel nicotine pouches: changes inside the pouch

Why we’re flagging this: A product can look like a familiar nicotine pouch while using a different formulation inside.

What changed?

InterTabac’s September 2026 preview named AIRSCREAM’s M13 Cadence as a semi-gel nicotine pouch range being presented at the trade show in Dortmund.

Separately, ingredient supplier NicSelect describes NXP, a semi-gel matrix for pouch formulations. Its own material dates this technology to at least April 2026, so it should not be described as invented in September.

What do we know?

The feature being tracked is a change in the material inside a pouch. The trade-show organiser identifies a named product range; NicSelect provides original information about a formulation platform.

These are separate examples. We have not established that M13 Cadence uses NicSelect’s NXP technology. Semi-gel pouches should not be confused with loose oral gel, creams or strips that dissolve completely.

What don’t we know?

Claims about steadier release, improved stability or comfort are supplier claims. We have not verified independent comparisons of absorption, safety or use.

UK retail availability, Welsh use and exact commercial launch dates remain unconfirmed. A trade-show presentation does not establish how widely a product is sold or used.

Why might it matter to Wales?

Parents, teachers and youth workers may encounter products that look like ordinary pouches but use different materials inside. Appearance and labelled nicotine content alone do not establish how a product performs. This is an international watch item, not evidence of a new trend among young people in Wales.
