Pouchless nicotine pods: small portions that do not melt
Why we’re flagging this: Not every small oral nicotine product has a fabric pouch or dissolves during use. Pouchless pods are another nicotine format people may not immediately recognise.

Confirmed evidence: manufacturer description and a UK-facing retail listing.

What are pouchless nicotine pods?
NOR NAKD is one example. The manufacturer describes small, soft oral nicotine portions held together with an agar binder instead of an outer fleece pouch. It explicitly says the pods do not melt in the mouth.
They are different from fully dissolvable nicotine strips, pearls and melts. Here, “pod” means an oral nicotine product, not an e-liquid cartridge for a vape.
What do we know about availability?
A UK-facing retailer advertises NOR NAKD products and UK delivery. This confirms a retail listing, not sales volumes or stock in Welsh shops. We have not established the date they first became available in the UK.
Why does this matter?
The lack of a fabric pouch does not mean a small oral portion is nicotine-free or that it will dissolve. If someone describes using a “pod”, it is useful to establish whether they mean an oral product or a vape cartridge.
What don’t we know?
We have not established how widely these products are available or used in Wales, or how many young people use them. We have not independently verified the manufacturer’s environmental or faster-release claims. They should not be described as safer products on that basis.
If you encounter an unfamiliar product
Do not taste or test it. If you are concerned about someone’s use, start a supportive conversation to understand what happened and what help they may need. In a workplace, school or community setting, follow any relevant safeguarding or incident procedures.
