Ultra-thin nicotine pouches: a different format to recognise
MARKET · EMERGING · INTERNATIONAL
Why we’re flagging this: An ultra-thin oral nicotine format may look different from conventional filled pouches. ZAR calls its version “AirPouch”.

What changed?
A ZAR company announcement dated 28 October 2026 promotes a compressed, powderless nicotine product advertised as less than 1 mm thick. We have newly identified it for this watch; we have not confirmed its original launch date.
What do we know?
The manufacturer describes a thin product placed between the lip and gum. Its directions say to remove and discard it after use. This distinguishes it from nicotine strips or melts that dissolve completely.
The feature we are tracking is its flat, compressed design rather than a conventional filled pouch. This is an international product example, not evidence of a widespread trend.
What don’t we know?
We have not independently verified its dimensions or the brand’s claims about nicotine delivery, comfort or improved focus. Manufacturer descriptions establish how a product is marketed; they do not prove health or performance benefits.
UK sales, Welsh availability and use among young people have not been established. We have not confirmed the original launch date.
Why might it matter to Wales?
It is another example of how oral nicotine products can change in appearance. Parents, teachers and youth workers may find it useful to distinguish a thin removable pouch from a dissolvable strip. This example does not establish use in Wales.
