Why we’re flagging this: Some vapes sold or described as THC, CBD or cannabinoid products have contained unexpected synthetic cannabinoids.

What has Welsh testing found?
Public Health Wales’ WEDINOS drug-testing programme reported that 43% of THC, CBD or cannabinoid vape products submitted in 2025/26 contained synthetic cannabinoids, sometimes known as Spice.
Why does this matter?
With an illicit or unregulated vape, the label or seller’s description may not match what is actually inside.
What does the 43% figure NOT mean?
It does not mean that 43% of young people’s vapes contain these substances.
WEDINOS tests products that people choose to submit. It is not a survey of all vapes or all young people in Wales.
What should parents, schools and communities look out for?
Be cautious with unfamiliar or unregulated products sold as THC, CBD or cannabinoid vapes, particularly where the contents are unclear.
Do not dismantle or test an unfamiliar vape. If someone becomes unwell after using one, seek appropriate medical help.
