What is being seen?

UK Government consultation material describes vapes with digital screens that can display images, artwork and videos. Some devices can support interactive features, including games.

The same consultation notes that vapes can come in novel shapes that imitate other products, including game devices. Previous evidence submitted to government also highlighted products shaped like soft drink cans and toys.

Why this matters

These features can make a vape look more like a gadget or everyday object than a conventional vaping device. That can make recognition harder for parents, teachers and youth workers.

Do not rely on appearance alone to identify a product. If you are unsure what a device is, focus on what happened, whether anyone is unwell and what support is needed.

What we do not know

We do not have a reliable Wales-wide estimate showing how common screen, game-enabled or novelty-shaped vapes are among young people.
